Study Trips to Shaolin Temple, Chen Taiji Village & Wudang Mountain
SCIC Travel Division provides a special trip for all martial arts students to discover the most important locations for Kung Fu development and training in China. These places are fundamental in the history of Chinese Martial Arts; the world-famous Shaolin Temple, the birth place of Taiji in Chen Village, and the Taoist sacred mountain of Wudang.
Admission, transportation and English speaking guides are provided at no extra cost. These tours provide an opportunity for students to deepen their knowledge of China's rich history and cultural heritage.
Shaolin Trip
The Shaolin temple is located northwest of Dengfeng County, Henan province, and is about 7 hours journey by train from Beijing.
Our students will get the chance to study Shaolin Kung Fu with the renowned Kung Fu masters for two days at the temple. There will be two groups of students: an 'external' group that focuses on hard Kung Fu training, and an 'internal' group who will learn Buddhist Qi Gong and Meditation. In addition students can also watch a Shaolin Kung Fu performance, which is a stunning display of Kung Fu, athleticism and power. Students can also visit nearby cities and other sightseeing spots, including the Temple itself and the historical Longman Caves.
Standard Itinerary
Day 1 Beijing Pick-up at the host school, transfer to train station, overnight train K179 22:38 - 07:11 to Zhengzhou (Shaolin).
Day 2 Zhengzhou Upon arrival, transfer to hotel for breakfast; rest in the morning. After lunch, visit a professional Tai Chi team. Enjoy paper cutting, Majong and Dumpling Making workshops from 5 to 6 pm. Stay at Fengleyuan Hotel (4-star).
Day 3 Shaolin Temple After breakfast, travel to Shaolin Temple, enjoy the Shaolin Kungfu Show. Whole day tour of Shaolin Temple. Stay at Shaolin International Hotel (4-star).
Day 4 Shaolin Temple After breakfast, train in Shaolin Buddhist Meditation or Kung Fu from 9am to 11am in the Shaolin Kung Fu School. After lunch, enjoy Kung Fu training 3 to 5pm. Stay at Shaolin International Hotel.
Chen Village Trip (Chenjiagou)
Chenjiagou, the Chen Tai Chi village, is located in the east of Wenxian county, 100 kilometers from the Shaolin Temple. At the end of the Ming Dynasty and the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, Chen Wangting (the founder of Tai Chi) developed a Taijiquan set which combined the principles of Yin and Yang, the essence of various Wushu schools, Taiji theory, and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Students will visit Chenjiagou and have the chance to learn some original Tai Chi, including Chen-style Tai Chi forms and applications with some famous masters. Students can also enjoy some fascinating sightseeing and local activities. Students will be taught Tai Chi applications, one selected Tai Chi empty form and another selected Tai Chi weapon form.
Standard Itinerary
Day 5 Shaolin Temple / Chen Village Bus to Chenjiagou, visit the Cheng Family Memorial Temple, and learn Taiji at the Village in the afternoon. Travel to back to Dengfeng or Luoyang, stay at Hotel.
Day 6 Luoyang / Beijing After breakfast enjoy free time. After lunch visit the Longmen Grottos, after dinner take overnight train back to Beijing.
Day 7 Beijing Upon arrival, transfer to host school or hotel. The trip is officially ended.
Wudang Study Trip
Wudang Mountain is a Taoist centre in China, located in the west of Hubei Province and famous for its long tradition of martial arts and Taoist philosophy. This is a great place to learn and study kung fu, and to absorb the 'qi' of the beautiful countryside. Wudang Mountain is possibly the most famous Taoist mountain in China.
Our Wudang Trip lets students learn Wudang styles and techniques under the instruction of respected Kung Fu Priests. Immerse yourself in this sacred Taoist Mountain, while enjoying its harmonized and peaceful nature and cultivating internal chi and external power. All this will leave you with an unforgettable training and life experience in China!
Standard Itinerary
Day 1 Luoyang / Wudang After breakfast enjoy free time. After lunch visit the Longmen Grottos, after dinner take train to Xiangfan, upon arrival, meet your guide, and transfer to Wudang.
Day 2 Wudang Breakfast, Whole day tour of Wudang Mountains visit Baixiaogong and Nanyan, after the lunch and take the cable car back to bottom, Stay at Wudang Hotel
Day 3 Wudang Breakfast, Wudang Kung Fu / Taiji training is from 9: 30 to 11:30, After lunch transfer to Xiangfan Train Station, take train K280 17:52 - 13:09 back to Beijing
Day 4 Wudang / Beijing Upon arrival, transfer to host school or hotel. The trip is officially ended.
