Chinese Musical Instruments Course

Study Chinese Martial Arts and learn how to play traditional Chinese Musical Instruments at same time! Chinese music is celebrated for its gentle and elegant sounds and playing styles of its traditional Chinese musical instruments and has attracted numerous music enthusiasts from home and abroad. Our Musical Instrument course allows students the opportunity to experience the highly distinctive rhythms (beat, tone quality) of Chinese music, acquire a general knowledge of Chinese music, and enjoy in the practice of traditional Chinese musical instruments. Furthermore, it is the perfect opportunity to know more about Chinese culture and music history.

This course is available in combination with Martial Arts training. Students will be study two or three times a week at SCIC Beijing's Cultural Centre. Courses are taught mostly in Chinese with an English interpreter provided, and transportation will be provided to the centre from host universities and schools.

Study Contents

Learn basic musical rhythms, beats, tone qualities and fundamental techniques such as blowing, bowing, plucking, and striking for each instrument; obtain a general knowledge of traditional Chinese musical instruments. At the end of the course students will be able to play simple Chinese music and songs and possess the foundation for further instruction and practicing.  

Instructors and Teachers

Our SCIC Musical Instrument courses are taught by a small group of artists from the Central Academy of Music, some of whom are members of the China National Group. They are responsible for demonstrating and teaching traditional musical instruments to our students and travelers.
